Nvidia has unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show its new K1 Tegra , which are very energy efficient and with 192 shader units more graphics performance than the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 should have. The new CPU is released in two versions. In addition to a 32-bit version with four ARM Cortex-A15 cores and a power-saving core there should also be a 64-bit dual-core version on ARMv8 base with very high single-and multi-core performance.

The graphics core in two versions based on the current Kepler technique that is also used in the Geforce GTX 780 Ti , but has been optimized for energy efficiency. With 192 shader units and support for CUDA, DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.4 also run modern game engines such as Unreal Engine 4 on the Tegra K1. While the graphics functions which the new consoles Xbox One and Playstation 4 match, Nvidia promises a performance that exceeds that of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. In addition, the graphics core is noisy results of GFXBench 3.0 GL 1.5 times more energy-efficient than Snapdragon by Qualcomm 800 or the Apple A7.

The press release also quoted Tim Sweeney of Epic Games: “With the introduction of this revolutionary processor we can execute applications running on the PC on Tegra. From now on, the performance and functional difference between mobile and high-end PC gaming will become smaller and smaller, until the differences have disappeared. “Until then, however, some time will be needed, because, as Nvidia has announced that should the two , 3 GHz speed 32-bit version of the Tegra K1 “expected in the first half of 2014 as in mobile devices on the market,” as it is “expected to be in the 64-bit version in the second half of the year” as far. Nvidia has even have to create a crop circle for Tegra K1, as the video shows below this message.
