With a new screen technology Sharp wants to maintain its position in the industry after years of crisis. At IFA in Berlin, the company displays with the so-called IGZO technology at the core of its trade show presentation. Instead of conventional amorphous silicon developers are utilizing a mixture of indium, gallium and zinc oxide (IGZO), said Sharp manager Sascha Lange. The new material has the effect that the transistors needed much less space and more pixels (8k) might represent. In addition, the light transmittance climb by 20 percent and enable thus even brighter picture images.
