ADVA Optical Networking today announced that its coherent 400Gbit / s-DCI technology (Data Center Interconnect) has passed the rigorous testing at Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) successfully. In field test two research and educational centers in Poznan and Warsaw were more than 385 kilometers of optical fiber connected to each other. The ADVA FSP 3000 Cloud Connect (TM), with its unique DCI technology has transmitted 14 hours without data block error – a result that so far, no other provider has achieved in the industry. Moreover sat ADVA Optical Networking by software configurable channel card in order to allow flexible data rates and modulation schemes. This allows the network to scale intelligently as required by 200Gbit / s over 300Gbit / s to 400Gbit / s or QPSK 8-QAM to 16-QAM.

The field trial with 400Gbit / s was performed in the network of Pioneer with regular operation. PIONEER is a consortium of Polish research and education institutions, whose network is operated by PSNC. For the test, the ADVA FSP has been configured in an optical super channel 3000 Cloud Connect (TM) with two wavelengths to ever 200Gbit / s with 16-QAM. The system was also equipped with reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs) and hybrid amplifiers equipped. The result of the 14-hour test: a completely error-free transmission with an impressive optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) of around 20dB. This test shows the potential of the ADVA FSP 3000 Cloud Connect (TM) technology, especially for bandwidth-intensive applications, which are used in relation to data transfers between data centers.
