OCP US Summit 2015 – Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: MLNX), a leading provider of end-to-end connectivity solutions for servers and storage systems, today announced the launch of Mellanox Multi-Host ™, an innovative technology that a high degree of flexibility and significant savings in building a scalable cloud offers Web 2.0 as well as high-performance next generation data centers. The new technology allows designing and building innovative and heterogeneous scale-out computing and storage racks with a direct connection between the processing elements, memory elements and the network, better performance and performance management, with a maximum data processing and data transfer is achieved with minimal capital expenditure and operating costs. The Mellanox multi-host technology is currently in the company’s line of ConnectX®-4 10/25/50/100 Gigabit Ethernet adapter as well as in the OCP-based boards of Yosemite platform with the introduction of the recently announced Facebook was available.

The Mellanox multi-host technology allows direct connection of multiple hosts to a single network controller, but each host is completely independent of the other. In addition, the host may be based on different CPU architectures (i.e. x86, Power, ARM and so on) and for each host are dedzierte QoS (Quality of Service) – and ensures host management channels. At the same time the hosts to the same network interface share, resulting in savings on switch ports, cables, property and power.

“By the next two years expected by the cloud computing increase in the computational workload density, new server architecture requirements in terms of agility, customized servers and better performance at the same time cutting costs, “said Dr. Cliff Grossner, research director of data center for cloud and SDN at Infonetics Research, now part of IHS Inc.” Mellanox, with its multi-host option ensures innovation in server architecture and data center providers would do well to consider this new technology into consideration. “

” Mellanox has set itself the goal of this set of functions bring in a format into the market coincides with 100 percent of the existing OCP Mezzanine Card specification that, “said Frank Frankovksy, Chairman and President of the Open Compute Project. “The multi-host technology enables the design of computing and storage next generation data centers that achieve maximum performance and efficiency, whilst providing savings in capital expenditure (CapEx) and operating expenses (OpEx).”

“Our customers are leaders in terms cloud services, and some of these workloads occupy huge network resource volumes,” said Mike Yang, Managing Director (General Manager) of Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT). “The elimination of performance bottlenecks and reducing latency while maintaining a low efficiency of data centers is the main concern of those customers who are running cloud applications where the highest performance is required. Mellanox multi-host offers these customers a new and attractive alternative. “

” In today’s world of huge volumes of data, the huge data centers, private and public cloud computing, Web 2.0 and Big Data Analysis Applications is to provide a technology that increases the computing and storage capacity with minimal costs, a challenge, “said Michael Kagan, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Mellanox Technologies. “The Mellanox multi-host technology offers our partners a solution that applies processing power and network speed maximum ausschlöpft, while maintaining the overall operating costs and lower operating costs.”

The direct connection between multiple hosts and the centralized network controller allows direct data access with the lowest latency can be overcome with the performance bottlenecks using the current server-NUMA architecture. It also enables better utilization of CPUs with lower performance, which can now share the aggregation network directly via the network controller.

“With nearly two decades of experience in the provision of in-band / out -of-band BMC solutions for industry leading OEM / ODM customers to American shows Megatrends, Inc. (AMI) delighted to announce support for Mellanox multi-host technology, “said Sanjoy Maity, vice president of Manageability Solutions Group at AMI. “The industry-leading management framework MegaRAC SP-X of AMI provides the source code level and the development of tools that are needed to using one of the common CPU architectures and industry-leading SoCs feature-rich, robust BMC solutions for OCP and cloud server Generate. “
