SmartWatch with long battery runtime: Dragon Strong technology later this … – CHIP Online

What is the best smartwatch?

The American company Qualcomm Inc. has developed a new processor for Wearbles, of 25 percent less energy to consume than current CPUs. A good news for all friends of smartwatches and fitness trackers, because exactly which devices should thereby get a longer battery life.

Almost all smartwatches run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 processors, although it was originally developed for mobile phones and tablets. Exceptions are the Apple Watch and watches from Tag Heuer, Pebble and Sony. The new CPU that was Snapdragon Wear baptized 2100 is much smaller than conventional wearables processors. Devices with Snapdragon Wear 2100 should therefore not only get better battery performance but also be slimmer.

SmartWatch with long battery runtime: How it works

?
In a built-in sensors-center of the processor processes the data of Wearable before sending it to the cloud. Thus it reduces the data transmission. This positively affects the battery performance from as smartwatches and fitness trackers are always connected to the cloud. The new processor also has a new, battery-saving LTE modem with GNSS technology is integrated .

SmartWatch with long battery runtime: When they come to us

?
The processors are the manufacturers of wearables now available. Most companies begin therefore only now on to develop devices with the new CPU. Qualcomm has however confirmed that LG wants to integrate the new processor into a smartwatch that already come out this year. If you do not want to wait that long, we can put the Pebble Time for around 180 Euro warmly recommend. This has in CHIP assay with over 70 hours, the longest measured battery runtime. (jfm)
