Berliner Morgenpost: Is it become easier in recent years to attract or to locate companies

Stefan Franzke: now you do not have to explain to an investor Berlin. Berlin is well known, especially the service economy and the start-up scene. Many companies are coming to Berlin because they know that citizens living here from 180 nations. And that if they build a commercial area, the markets in Sweden, Spain, Turkey, Portugal operated here find people who speak these languages. But we had last year also successful in industrial production.

In which order of magnitude is moving? Can we expect a further Siemens?

These are mainly SMEs. In Adlershof we have established a company with 50 employees that manufactures chillers for industrial applications. In the electric mobility companies have mostly at the beginning 20, 30 employees, but quite potential to be much larger. But another Siemens? The Group has 12,000 employees here. From such a settlement dreams a business promoter. But that will not happen. You have to rely on the many small projects, and that was last year 234th

Where do new employees come from?

Many of Germany, but also from anywhere in the world. Berlin has changed over the past 20 years, almost half of its population. Of 1.4 million inhabitants who are new to came. And if I find doing this to me, then pulls Berlin as a cultural metropolis, as a creative metropolis, as the only metropolis in Germany, where it can be realized. And that too in a European comparison quite reasonable prices.

If the statistics you look at, at least in terms of economic success and the growth momentum, the happened in the past five years. There are many reasons. If one times the Moors at the three Ts of the US economist Richard Florida: talent, technology and tolerance. Technology are the many universities. Many people come to study only a year and then are so excited that they stay here. Tolerance: As a symbol of this was the Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit, who said: We are divers. And with 180 different countries of origin can be seen that even in the city with all that that entails. The great majority see that as very positive. This is the place keeps the talents and bring economic dynamism. The unemployment rate is going down, is the economic success.

Last year, 40,000 people worked in balance to come. By 2020, there will be an additional 200,000. What are the challenges that accompany it?

If you say it got stuck 40,000, the truth is yes which are 170,000 130,000 again come and gone. Net of the regulatory reporting processes is enormous. And if even including people from outside the EU, you can imagine what was behind it alone dealing with authorities. We are currently building our excellent partnership with the immigration office. The Berlin foreigners authority shall issue a residence permit alone 110,000 a year. This is one-eighth of what is to be awarded in the year in Germany.

residence permit?

true freedom of movement within the EU. But we have quite a lot of new residents coming from outside Europe. The need for a residence permit to live and work here can.

Americans.

For example.

That should not be a problem. I guess when I get out of Kosovo, it is difficult.

we need to work even these people to welcome you. To change that it is not only derogatory says: These are perhaps economic refugees from crisis areas, but there are sometimes highly talented people. And the challenge is to deal with the manager and the manager just like the professional footballer with Hertha BSC when coming from non-EU countries. Simply welcome you and provide fast with work permits and everything else. That is a big challenge.

We have a new model since January 1st. A distinction is whether the alien invested and founded a company, or if he comes here as an employee. For employees who come from non-EU-countries, there is no problem if they have a college education. However ResearchGate, Wooga and other companies in the digital economy bring their talents, for example, from Latin America and Asia. Who have not studied in part, but can be programmed. There has to be someone who judges whether we need or whether they displace other. The opinions we express. For example, to programmers who are used here, may remain, even if they have no formal higher education.

If So I’m from South Korea to Berlin, I must first of all register at the registration office that I want to work here.

So: Most interested parties have access to a company. And companies like Research gate, Zalando, Rocket Internet and Wooga the respective HR department already know that Berlin Partner can say how to proceed. This may be from South Korea, unlike in America or Syria or South Africa. Foreigners’ Registration Office, Berlin Partner and the Chamber of Commerce qualify as common the respective HR departments to actually have the fastest possible throughput.

And investors?

The walk across the German embassies. They’re not here yet. Where we look at the business plans and give the immigration office a feedback whether this is an investment that in Berlin – and Brandenburg -. Is mitverankert important issues

health, information technology, optics, energy and transport …

… additionally industrial production and services sector.

Is there enough space in a central location?

The demand for land increases. We have talked about immigration, people want to live somewhere. Then there is the necessary infrastructure: supermarket, kindergarten, hospital, parking. Berlin was, inter alia, as sought after as areas for creatives were there. And that should continue to be there. Then we need companies because the people who come here want to work. I can see with concern that purely focuses on the subject housing. We are currently still in a stage that Berlin has as many metropolitan areas, when compared with the Paris, London, Barcelona. But we need to look at exactly what we want to do with the space.

What were the last spectacular settlements?

Cisco. To get in the global tendering process one of six innovation labs for the Internet of Things, was really good. This is important to the subject Smart City and Industry 4.0. We have the same then a few companies also settled that have Cisco as a customer. Cisco makes itself, so to speak, the infrastructure for the Internet. Then, the digital division of the Munich ProSiebenSat.1 TV station. The US game developer King. This year we received the first international subsidiary of the Swiss company Doodle in Berlin. The make appointments over the Internet

King, Doodle. As programmers are in demand. The times would but soon become scarce.

Zalando sought early March several hundred software developers. That brings pressure. But precisely the people who can do that, feel like Berlin
