Telefónica and Huawei test 4.5g technology – IT-ZOOM

Higher capacity and data speeds, shorter reaction times – Telefónica Germany and Huawei launch in Munich a pilot network of the mobile-turbo 4.5 g. The first network operator in Germany Telefónica brings so this LTE expansion stage from the laboratory to try them out in practical field tests. Thus, the company is paving the way towards gigabit society in Germany. For the 4.5g technology promises for mobile customers already in 2017 speeds up to 1.2 Gb / s and is an important intermediate step to 5G, the future standard for mobile networks.

Potential Applications for 4,5g are places that require due to a regular high concentration of Smartphone or tablet users high capacity, for example, stations, airports, stadiums and festivals. To test the planned 2017 use the 4.5g technology in mobile network under practical conditions, the network operator has established together with the technology partner Huawei a pilot network in Munich, which covers the north of the city around the Olympic site. The new network is not yet accessible for customers. It serves as a research environment for applications that require high transfer rates and low latency required as the real-time control in industrial applications or networked drive.

In live operation of the experimental network initially is a transfer rate of up to 400 Mbit / s is available. She is continuously increased in the following years. Earlier in the year it was possible the partner enterprises, under laboratory conditions mobile data by bundling five LTE frequency bands with up to 1.2 Gb / s transfer.
