This is growth at the expense of iOS, because Apple has also brought a new smartphone on the market for a year. With 31.2 million iPhones sold iOS can at least still down by 20 percent, the market share decreases but from 16.6 to 13.2 percent. “With the new iPhone and a reworked iOS, which are expected later in the year, Apple is well positioned to take back the lost market shares,” said IDC’s Ramon Llamas expert.

The market share of BlackBerry also declined, with 6.8 million smartphones shipped come the Canadians to a market share of 2.9 percent – a year ago it was still 4.9 percent. IDC analysts provide BlackBerry not yet lost, but expect that the new BB10 platform stabilized with time and again attracts more users.

Linux has left springs, the already modest presence of open systems has shrunk again with 1.8 million units and a market share of 0.8 percent. Most manufacturers who are set to open systems, defected to Android, according to IDC. From smartphones to in development Linux variants Firefox OS, Tizen and sailfish but a recovery is expected.
