Next version of Android is called KitKat - Heise Newsticker

As befits a Google manager, published Sundar Pichai, the current Android chief, updates to Android on Google+: KitKat will the next version be called, and the version number is 4.4. Maybe Google has a new Nexus smartphone in store that should come with KitKat – the sell-out of the Nexus 4 could be interpreted as a hint. In the U.S., the 8-gigabyte version of the Nexus 4 is already no longer available, and the bearings should not be filled too.

Whether Google has reached an agreement with the bakers of chocolate bar KitKat is unknown. In the comments to the posting by Pichai this question comes up, he has not answered it. A link at the bottom of the page indicate, however.

There is now a press release confirming the deal between Google and the world’s biggest food company Nestle. Under the partnership, NestlĂ© will launch an advertising campaign to 50 million KitKat bars in 19 countries, among other things, to win Google’s tablet and gift cards from customers. (II)
