The semiconductor industry association SEMI (San Jose, CA, USA) above are coordinating the “International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaic “(ITRPV) eV to the Association of German Machinery and Plant (VDMA, Frankfurt / M.), reported the VDMA.
The ITRPV is a platform for the solar industry, contributing to the international solar cell and module producers, research institutions, as well as mechanical engineers and material manufacturers. They have established themselves in recent years as the central technological guidance for the production of crystalline photovoltaics, emphasized the association.
The roadmap defines short and medium technological challenges in photovoltaic manufacturing and proposes solutions.
Consistent technological development of photovoltaic necessary
“We look forward to the ITRPV further advance. We have already supported in recent years the roadmapping activities of SEMI and can build on an excellent foundation. The key to long-term competitiveness of photovoltaics lies in the consistent technological advancement. We are convinced that we can make our contribution to the ITRPV here, “says Dr. Florian Wessendorf, Managing Director of VDMA Photovoltaic Equipment.
SEMI: photovoltaic industry needs an independent technology roadmap
An important part of ITRPV is to identify cost-cutting potentials along the crystalline value chain. The Roadmap identifies potential cost reductions in materials, innovative production processes and the transition to high-performance cell concepts as essential steps to increase the competitiveness of the photovoltaic industry. Exactly in this direction the VDMA wants to promote the ITRPV. “We are delighted to have found an association who is carrying on the activity professionally. We are confident that the initiative launched makes sense and the photovoltaic industry needs an independent technology roadmap, “says Stephan Raithel, managing director of SEMI Europe.
