Bern / Niederwangen, July 20, 2015 – In the current student project Smoje (Smart buoy) the BFH (Berner Fachhochschule) stuck technology and consulting the NetModule. Each floating station (Smoje) is a Wireless Router NB1600 integrated which enables communication with the Internet. In the vote of the components and protocols NetModule contributed its longstanding embedded expertise and project expertise. Thus, the equipped with computers and sensors Smojen – planned are five in 2015 – among themselves and with third parties and a central connection over the Internet to receive and communicate. With its functions for data acquisition, control, protocol conversion, the local data processing, storage and encrypted data transmission creates the Wireless Router NB1600 the requirement for cost-effective and secure communications over the Internet. In the project to fruition, the two isolated digital inputs and two relay outputs of the NB1600 Wireless Router for connection to sensors and actuators came, as well as the fast Internet access via mobile network thanks to the integrated 2G / 3G + / 4G modem with ultra-high data rates. Secure data transmission is via common VPN technologies such as IPSec and OpenVPN in both the client as well as in server mode. A special feature of the NB1600 two versatile Ethernet ports combined in LAN mode working as a 2-port switch or obtain separate IP networks.
Smoje is a student project of the Berner Fachhochschule (BFH), the department engineering and computer science. In 3rd year the subject is offered mobile computing, which deals this time with the theme of the so-called. Internet of Things (IoT).
Smojen measure many parameters such as position, temperature of water and air, wind speed and direction , waves, drift and many more. They may be get in touch as well as with third parties via the Internet and communicate. The storage of the collected data is in the cloud, where they can be read and processed by other systems and interested users. Be based on many applications such as scientific analysis or warning of storms. Also for hobby sailors, it is interesting, always current data and the wind. To obtain water condition. Power is supplied to the all-weather system using solar panels. The first Smoje was at 28.5. watered in Biel, another four to follow later this year. A specially developed app Smoje remain interested constantly up to date.
Cooperation between NetModule and the teachers and students involved in the project was very efficient and in addition to the remarkable project results also brought more new ideas for using the router company’s products.
